The Role of Lubricants in Converting Landfill Gas into Clean Energy

The Role of Lubricants in Converting Landfill Gas into Clean Energy
There are three main steps involved in converting landfill gasses into clean energy:
- Moisture removal
- Impurity removal
- Carbon dioxide removal
The last two, impurity and carbon dioxide removal, may require the gas to be compressed. Due to harsh components and conditions, the compressors may require special gas compressor lubricants to protect the compressor parts.
The lubricant may need to provide good wetting properties and the ability to resist viscosity dilution to provide appropriate protection! Midtex Oil carries Shell’s line of Gas Compressor Oils to support this industry.
