Decarbonization

Biofuels
The goal of decarbonization is to mitigate climate change by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere. Here are some ways that Shell and Midtex Oil are taking intentional steps towards a greener future:
Shell’s Approach
- NET-ZERO: Shell’s goal is to become a net-zero energy emissions business by 2050
- CAPTURE & OFFSET: Where greenhouse gas emissions cannot be avoided in the production of Shell products, they will be intentionally captured or offset through technology and nature.
- OFFERING LOW-CARBON PRODUCTS: By increasing their focus on offering renewable electricity, providing charging for electric vehicles, amd working with hydrogen, Shell aims to reduce the net carbon intensity of the energy products they sell by 100% by 2050.
- PARTNERING WITH CUSTOMERS: Shell is working with their customers to address any greenhouse gas emissions produced by the use of their products.
Midtex Oil’s Efforts:
- SOLAR PANELS: Present on the top of 12 of our larger stores (at one time, we were the largest solar power generator in San Antonio!)
- SALE OF DEF: The purpose of DEF is to clean up the exhaust from diesel vehicles; while usually available in bottles, we’re gone a step further and put it at the dispenser.
- SALE OF E85: Which burns cleaner than regular petroleum products.
- SALE OF B20: B20 (for 20% bioproduct) diesel is sold by the truckload to commercial customers, & will soon be available at our stores. (Regular diesel is only 5% bioproduct.)
- EV CHARGING STATIONS: Over the next few years, we will be installing charging stations for electric vehicles at 8 of our locations.
