About Midtex Oil
Maurice "M.D." and Charlene Fischer started in the petroleum marketing business in the October of 1966, when they bough out Mr. Carl H. Bucher becoming the Texaco Consignee for the Coma County area. The business, under the name M.D. Fischer, Consignee, was located at 898 N. Houston, and consisted of one small tanker and two pickup trucks, one with a small tank on the back, delivering small quantities of petroleum to farmers, ranchers, and a dozen or so retail accounts; no real estate was owned by the company. The office/warehouse building was owned by Texaco and the land belonged to the railroad. In 1969 the company built the first service station at 974 N. Walnut and was referred to as Oakwood Service Center. Not desiring to enter the retail side of business, the station was rented out, although throughout the years the company had operated various service stations between dealer rentals. In 1975, Midtex began operating this account as Pit Stop #1.
Midtex Oil, Inc. was chartered with M.D. as owner and President and Charlene as Secretary/Treasurer in April of 1976. On May 1, 1976, the new corporation bought the Phillips 66 jobbership from Mr. Edgar Sahm. Part of that purchase incldued a Phillips station at I.H. 35 and Walnut, which was later named Pit Stop Food Mart #3.
In December, 1976, a new corporation, M.D. Fischer Oil, Inc. was chartered for the purpose of separating the Texaco Consignee and Phillips Jobbership from he hauling of unbranded products by transport. In May, 1979, Midtex Oil, Inc. acquired all shares of M.D. Fischer Oil, Inc. stock, after which the shares were liquidated. In February, 1989, M.D. Fischer Oil, Inc. was officially dissolved.
The Texaco consgineeship was converted to a Texaco distributorship in 1980, thus opening many new opportunities for expansion. M.D. Fischer, Consignee, ceased to exist and the distributorship has been operated by Midtex Oil, Inc. ever since. The same year Midtex built a new office and warehouse at 1516 Wald Road, along with Pit Stop #4 which adjoined the new office. The first computer was also acquired. In December, 1980, the Arco jobbership was purchased from Ray Schlichting Oil Company, but two months later Arco withdrew all operations from Texas. Arco customers were converted to Texaco or Phillips 66 products, including the Arco Service Station at 1015 So. Seguin, which was part of the Arco purchase. This station became Pit Stop Food Mart #6.
M.D. and Char's oldest son, Russell Fischer, joined the company full time in the Wholesale department in 1987. He served as the Director of Wholesale Operations until 2013.
In December, 1988, the Kerrville Texaco distributorship was purchased from the St. Clair Corporation. Wholesale operations were conducted until March, 1994, but the retail business (Pit Stop #11), which was built in August, 1990, is still functioning successfully.
Midtex began its own Fleet Fueling System at Pit Stop #5, a credit card system of its own for use by local businesses, in 1989. This card system has expanded and is now available at many of our store locations as wel as the Main Office.
Due to environmental problems over the Edwards Aquifer and because Midtex needed to expand, a new office and warehouse was built at the present location: 3455 I.H. 35 South in New Braunfels, Texas.
In 1995, the first fast food outlet, Blimpie's, was added to Pit Stop #2 and the first Texaco Xpress Lube was built on Hwy 81 South.
Rodney Fischer, M.D. & Char's youngest son, joined the company as the Environmental and Engineering Manager in 1996. After that, Rodney became the Convenience Store Director. Rodney is now the President of Midtex Oil. His wife, Cathy, was a training coordinator and conducted employee training on a part time basis unil she became a full time Mom.
Midtex purchased the fuel and lube distribution assets of Ploch Oil Company in San Antonio in July 1997. This established a wholesale office and warehouse in the metro area, and a supplier contract with Conoco which was acquired at the same time.
In May, 1999, Midtex Purchased the Floyd Lackey Oil Company out of San Marcos, Texas, which consisted of one station adn a small bulk plant, which was remodeled and reopened as a Conoco unit.
On May 1, 2000, Midtex Oil, Inc. was changed to Midtex Oil, L.P. so it could avail itself of various benefits under state law.
In 2001, Midtex acquired a Shell lubricants contract, expanding our lubricants customer base.
In March 2003, due to Chevron purchasing Texaco, resulting in Shell exercising its option to conver all company-operated Texaco's to Shell, Midtex converted all of its Texaco facilities to Shell.
Eddie Wyatt Oil was purchased in August of 2003. With that purchase, the company was able to significantly increase its customer base.
On September 10, 2004, Midtex doubled its oil business by purchasing KP Oil in Conroe, Texas, wiht oil warehouses in Conroe, Tomball and Beaumont. The purchase was a good fit because KP Oil was also selling Shell and Texaco branded lubricants and had another large territory including the Houston area. This basically expanded Midtex Oil lubricants sales area from the Mexican border to the Louisiana border along IH 10 and north, including Waco.
On April 24, 2006, Rodney and Russell formed the partnership 2RF Enterprises, Ltd. and the Corporation of 2RF Management, Inc. On May 25, 2006, 2RF Enterprises, Ltd. purchased eleven (11) retail locations called Petro Pantry from ACO Petroleum, officing in Universal City, Texas. Nine of the locations involved the purchase of real property. The remaining two were leases. All of the stores were in the San Antonio area. All of the stores were branded Shell except for one of the leased sites which was temporarily branded Texaco.
In 2006, Pit Stop Food Mart #10 in Startzville, Texas (Canyon Lake) was razed and rebuilt as the first "Fischer's Neighborhood Market" with a McDonald's and a US Post Office incorporated within the facility. Two more Fischer's Neighborhood Markets were built in 2009 (Spring Branch, Texas) and 2012 (San Antonio, Texas). With the completion of the three Fischer's Neighborhood Markets, Midtex's retail facilities totaled twenty stores.
In 2008, Midtex sold seven stores but kept the fuel supply contracted to the stores. Currently, these are the only "dealers" that Midtex wholesale services.

Midtex Oil is proud to employ eco-friendly initiatives whenever possible. We offer E85 at four of our stations. Ethanol is a renewable domestic product that provides several benefits:
Ethanol provides free fuel injector cleaner - ethanol burns 100% and leaves no residue. It also helps dissolve injector deposits left behind by other fuels.
Ethanol provides free fresh air on tap which reduces carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon tailpipe emissions.
The use of renewable energy sources like ethanol decrease the nation's dependence on petroleum.
We also utilize energy saving light fixtures in all of our new stores, as well as a state of the art water conservation system - especially beneficial in a drought prone area like Texas.
We also help plant trees through the sale of Environmints, a special line of mints that is part of our product line for Mpact Initiative, Midtex's philanthropic effort. Read more about it below, or at our Mpact Initiative website - www.midtexmpact.com.
We believe it is our calling, not the government's, to freely and responsibly assist those around us who need a helping hand. As such, we are proud supporters of the communities we serve. Our goal is to be an ideal corporate citizen by making New Braunfels and the Greater San Antonio area a better place for children and families to live, work and play. We live by and contribute according to this philosophy. Since our humble beginning in 1966, we have regularly sponsored and donated to local schools, athletic programs, churches, civic organizations and community fundraisers. We also do our best to take care of individuals within our team who happen to fall upon hard times and need help.
Throughout each year we typically make a substantial amount of financial donations to a wide variety of nonprofit organizations. We also contribute products and equipment from our stores to help make non-profit events more successful. The Directors of Midtex Oil also donate their time and knowledge to local organizations and boards such as the local Rotary Clubs, The Wurstfest Association, McKenna Foundation Board, Church Boards, and various school committees.
Our Mpact Initiative - "Do Good...Change the World."
Through Mpact Initiative, Midtex Oil seeks to financially support organizations that are working towards making the world a better place. Our primary, initial focuses include protecting the environment, providing education, and providing access to clean water. We take a portion of the proceeds raised by our Mpact line of products (currently including mints, gum, and water, all sold in our stores,) double the amount raised by matching it with a donation from our company, and forward the monthly donations to carefully researched and thoughtfully chosen charities. The charities we currently support include Trees for the Future, buildOn, and Living Water International. We are excited for the opportunity to partner with our customers in making the world a healither, happier, all-round better place, one donation at a time.
