What You Need to Know About PC-12
Proposed Category 12 will supersede the most recent API service categories for heavy-duty engine oils, API CK-4 and FA-4 (launched in 2016).
PC-12 is being developed at the request of engine manufacturers, to meet the requirements of new emissions regulations.
2027 has been put forward as the likely launch date, following an estimated 5-year development program and 1-year licensing period.
